Brave New World merupakan novel tentang masa depan yang bersifat dystopian (khayalan negatif). Novel tersebut ditulis oleh Aldous Huxley pada tahun 1931 dan diterbitkan setahun kemudian. Dengan latar belakang London tahun 2540-an (tahun 632 dalam novel), novel tersebut menggambarkan kemajuan teknologi dan obat-obatan yang bisa menaklukkan rasa kemanusiaan masyarakat demi stabilitas negara. Skripsi ini bertujuan untuk mencari tahu simbol-simbol tentang politik dalam novel Brave New World karya Aldous Huxley dan untuk menyelidiki arti dari simbol tersebut. Penulis menggunakan Pendekatan Objektif dari M. H. Abrams dan konsep Tiga Efek Simbolisme dari Robert Stanton untuk menganalisis simbol dalam karya tersebut. Sebagai acuan tentang politik, penulis mengadopsi konsep politik dari Antonio Gramsci yang bernama Cultural Hegemony (Penguasaan Kultural) untuk memahami isu politik dalam karya tersebut. Setelah menganalisis data yang ada. Terdapat delapan simbol yang bisa diasosiasikan dengan tema politik dan saling memiliki hubungan antar simbol yakni gagasan perbandingan antara World State and Reservation, antara kelompok masyarakat dalam dan kelompok masyarakat luar. Simbol World State tersebut adalah Ford, Soma, bottle, dan belt. Sedangkan simbol di Reservation adalah snake, whip, knot, dan warden.

Brave New World is a novel about dystopian (negative utopian) future. It was written by Aldous Huxley in 1931 and published a year later. With the setting of London of AD 2540 (632 A.F. in the book), the novel pictured an advance of technology and pharmacy that can overpower the humanity of the people in the name of State’s stability. This study is aimed to discover the symbols about politics in the novel Brave New World by Aldous Huxley and to inquire the meaning of these symbols. The writer utilizes Objective Approach by M. H. Abrams as and the concept of Three Effects of Symbolism offered by Robert Stanton to analyze the symbol in the work. As political references, this study adopts political concept from Antonio Gramsci namely Cultural Hegemony to understand the political issue in the work. After analyzing the data, there are eight symbols that are associated to politics theme and have correlation each other namely comparative idea between World State and Reservation, and between in-group and out-group of the society. The symbols are Ford, Soma, bottle, and belt. Whereas the symbols of reservation are snake, whip, knot, and warden.
