Keberadaan cerita rakyat di masyarakat merupakan salah satu bentuk komunikasi antar masyarakat yang memiliki banyak fungsi. Selain fungsi mempererat tali persaudaraan antar warga, cerita rakyat juga mampu berguna untuk menjaga adatistiadat di masyarakat. Bangkalan adalah salah satu kabupaten di Indonesia yang memiliki beberapa legenda yang memiliki corak yang khas daerah, salah satunya adalah legenda Ke’ Lesap. Legenda kedaerahan ini dikenal hampir seluruh masyarakat Madura karena latar kejadian yang berkisah hampir di seluruh penjuru Pulau Madura. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teori kelisanan Albert B. Lord. Teori tersebut mengulas beberapa aspek kelisan, diantaranya adalah mengenai penutur. Penutur yang dimaksud adalah seorang performer sekaligus composer yang membawakan sebuah sastra lisan sekaligus dengan bagaimana proses transmisi terjadi dari penutur sebelumnya ke penutur berikutnya. Selain itu Lord juga mengulas mengenai formula, ekspresi formulaik dan tema dalam sebuah sastra lisan. Pemilihan teori ini sejalan dengan tujuan yang ingin dicapai. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengungkapkan penutur, formula dan tema legenda Ke’ Lesap yang disampaikan oleh penutur pada saat proses penceritaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penutur yang menceritakan legenda Ke’ Lesap bertindak sebagai pemain atau pelaku pertunjukkan tersebut, juga sebagai pengarang, penggubah, atau penyusun cerita. Penutur mengalami masa transmisi saat kecil, proses transmisi tersebut tidak dilakukan secara khusus. Untuk menceritakan legenda Ke’ Lesap tersebut, terdapat sebuah tema utama kerajaan yang kemudian dilanjutkan dengan subtema-subtema lain yaitu, anak raja, petunjuk, pencarian, pertemuan, dan pemberontakan. Selain tema, penutur juga memiliki formula-formula dalam menceritakan legenda tersebut. Beberapa diantaranya adalah formula nama tokoh, formula nama tempat, formula penggunaan beberapa kata lain, formula perubahan penggunaan bahasa, serta formula penekanan penyebutan pertama nama tokoh. Keseluruhan tersebut dirangkai oleh penutur menjadi sebuah kesatuan dalam penyampaian legenda Ke’ Lesap. Kata kunci: Sastra lisan, penutur, formula, tema, pertunjukkan, transmisi

The existence of folklore in the society is a form of communication among the people which have many functions. Other than strengthens the bond of neighborhood among the people, folklore also functions as securing the old tradition of a certain society. Bangkalan is one of suburbs in Indonesia which have some legends which have its own local characteristics; one of the legends is Ke’ Lesap. This local legend is known to almost all Madurese people, because the background of the story is happened in almost the entire Madura island. The theory used in this research is oral literature theory by Albert B. Lord. This theory describes some aspects of oral literature, one of them is singer. Singer in here means a performer and also a composer who sings an oral literature story as well as with how the transmission process occurred from the previous singer to the next singer. Other than that, Lord also explains about formula, formulaic expression, and theme in an oral literature. The choice of theory is in line with the objectives. The objectives of this research is to reveal the singer, formula and theme of Ke’ Lesap legend which being delivered by the singer during the performance. The result of the research shows that the singer who recites the Ke’ Lesap legend acts as the player or actor of the performance, also as the composer, compiler or the writer of the story. The singer went through a transmission when he was a child, the transmission process is not specifically done. To recite the Ke’ Lesap legend, there is a main theme about kingdom, then continued with other subthemes such as king’s son, clue, quest, rendezvous, and rebellion. Other than theme, singer also has formulas in reciting the legend. Some of them are the characteris’ names formula, setting formula, other words used formula, language change used formula, also first-mention characters’ names accentuation formula.
