Praktek Kerja Lapangan Program Diploma III Kesehatan Hewan Universitas Gadjah Mada Yogyakarta tahun 2014 dilaksanakan di Balai Besar Veteriner (BBVet) Wates. Balai Besar Veteriner Wates merupakan suatu unit pelaksana teknis yang berada di bawah dan bertanggung jawab kepada Direktorat Jenderal Bina Produksi Ternak dan Kesehatan Hewan yang bertugas melaksanakan penyidikan, pengujian veteriner, pengembangan teknik, metode penyidikan dan pengujian veteriner. Praktek Kerja Lapangan dilaksanakan pada tanggal 21-25 April 2014 di Laboratorium Epidemiologi dan Laboratorium Parasitologi, dengan tujuan mengetahui data kejadian penyakit yang disebabkan oleh protozoa genus Eimeria sebagai penyebab penyakit koksidiosis dari tahun 2011 sampai dengan 2013. Kegiatan yang dilakukan adalah mengetahui kejadian koksidiosis, jumlah sampel kiriman yang masuk, jumlah sampel yang positif mengandung oosista koksidia dan mengetahui uji yang digunakan. Berdasarkan data kasus koksidiosis sejak tahun 2011-2013 di Balai Besar Veteriner Wates Yogyakarta, total kiriman sampel dari wilayah layanan seperti Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta, Jawa Tengah dan Jawa Timur serta wilayah lain seperti Jawa Barat dan Sumatera, dari sampel tersebut sebagian positif mengandung oosista koksidia dengan persentase kejadian kasus tahun 2011 sebesar 40,09%, tahun 2012 sebesar 32,91%, dan 2013 sebesar 28,99% yang terdapat pada hewan anjing, kelinci, domba/kambing, sapi/kerbau dan kucing yang disebabkan oleh genus Eimeria spp. Uji yang dilakukan untuk mengetahui parasit tersebut adalah uji apung metode Whitlock dengan prinsip menemukan dan menghitung telur/oosista protozoa yang mengapung dalam kamar hitung Whitlock. Dari data pengamatan keseluruhan diamati bahwa hewan muda merupakan hewan yang mudah terserang koksidiosis dan wilayah yang paling rentan terserang koksidiosis adalah daerah pulau Sumatera dengan persentase kejadian 66,67%.

The practice of field work was held on 21-25 April 2014 in Epidemiology and Parasitology Laboratory, with the aim of knowing the list instances of disease caused by protozoa of the genus Eimeria as a cause of koksidiosis disease from 2011 to 2013. The activities included are knowing genesis koksidiosis, the number of incoming submissions, samples that contain positive oosista koksidia and find out the test were used. Based on the list from koksidiosis cases in 2011-2013 at the Balai Besar Veterinary Wates Yogyakarta, the total shipment of samples from areas of services such as special region of Yogyakarta, Central Java and East Java as well as other regions such as West Java and Sumatra, the positive portion of the sample contains oosista koksidia with the percentage of incident cases in 2011 amounting to 40,09%, 2012 of 32,91% and 2013 of 28,99% contained on dogs, rabbit, sheep/goat, cow/buffalo and cats are caused by the genus Eimeria spp. Trials conducted to know the parasites is a floating test with withlock method to find and calculate egg/oosista Protozoan that floats in the room count Whitlock. Overall observations from list observed show that young animals are animals that are susceptible to koksidiosis and the most vulnerable regions stricken with koksidiosis is an area of the island of Sumatra with the percentage incidence of 66,67%.
