Magang praktek dilaksanakan di PT Intan Pariwara Klaten, perusahaan yang bergerak di bidang percetakan. Kerja praktek yang dilakukan adalah pengamatan secara umum proses produksi buku dan media cetak lainnya yang dilakukan di PT Intan Pariwara dengan tahap – tahap poduksinya mulai dari pemotongan kertas sampai buku siap dipasarkan. Proses produksi di PT Intan Pariwara ini menggunakan mesin percetakan offset. Yaitu mesin yang menggunakan prinsip plat untuk mencetak . Dan mesin printing di sini ada dua macam, yang pertama adalah mesin produksi yang menggunakan kertas yang masih utuh atau gulungan disebut juga sebagai mesin offset web, yang kedua adalah mesin yang menggunakan kertas yang sudah dalam bentuk potongan disebut juga sebagai mesin offset sheet. Pada mesin sheet kertas disusun secara otomatis oleh mesin, kemudian langsung masuk proses printing. Setelah buku dijilid, maka selanjutnya adalah proses pemotongan sisi pada buku, yang menggunakan mesin potong. Dan proses yang terakhir adalah pengepresan buku menggunakan plastic press, yang berfungsi agar buku lebih awet ketika dipasarkan. Dari keseluruhan proses kerja praktek adalah manfaat yang sangat besar dari adanya teknologi terbaru dalam industri percetakan, sehingga sangat memudahkan dalam proses produksi yang jika tanpa menggunakan teknologi tersebut akan lebih membutuhkan banyak orang dan menghabiskan banyak waktu.

The apprentice work was conducted in PT Intan Pariwara Klaten which is a publishing company. This work is to observe generally the process of book printing, and other printing medias used in PT Intan Pariwara involving the steps of production, beginning from the process of paper cutting to the condition in which the book is ready to distribute. The producing process in PT Intan Pariwara uses the printing machine named as offset. It uses the method of plating to print. There are 2 kinds of this machine. The first is web – offset machine that uses the intact paper roll. The other one is the sheet-offset machine which uses the cut-model paper. In sheet machine ,the paper is arranged automatically by the machine and then it's led into the process of printing. Having bound the book, the process of book's side cutting is done by the cutting machine. The last step is to press the book with the plastic press in order that it's more durable to distribute. As a whole,based on the apprentice work,it can be concluded that the company may get the benefit from the using of new technology in publishing industry. The producing process using the technology can be conducted easier than the one without the technology which usually needs many people involved and unluckily it spends much more time. Key word
