Saat ini web tidak saja dalam lingkup ‘mencari’ informasi namun web saat ini juga merupakan sebuah media “interpersonal environment” dimana informasi lewat internet akan memainkan peran yang sangat penting sebagai wadah interaksi manusia dalam mencari informasi. Dalam menunjang keberhasilan tersebut, sebuah integrasi penampilan dan kualitas merupakan salah satu kunci penting dalam interaksi antara situs dengan user. Dalam hal perancangan desain situs, terdapat dua macam desain yang dapat memberikan gambaran secara umum model desain situs. Desain situs tersebut adalah Desain situs klasik dan desain situs kontemporer. Kedua desain situs memiliki perbedaan dalam mempersepsikan 3 (tiga) subvariabel penting dalam memperlihatkan tampilan layar yaitu Strukturisasi informasi, Penyorotan dan Navigasi. Penelitian ini ditujukan untuk menganalisa sejauh mana sebuah tampilan situs dapat berpengaruh bagi user dalam menelusuri informasi. Hasil penelitian mengemukakan situs dengan desain kontemporer ternyata lebih efektif dalam memberikan informasi daripada situs klasik. Selain hal tersebut hasil penelitian juga menjelaskan bahwa dari dua desain yang berbeda tersebut, faktor navigasi merupakan faktor yang paling dominan dalam efektifitas penyerapan informasi yang dikehendaki

In supporting the this success, an integration of design/appearance and quality is one important key in the interaction between sites with the user. In terms of designing the website, there are two kinds of designs that can give a general model of site design. These site design are the classic site design and the contemporary site design. Both the website design has differences in perceiving the 3 (three) subvariabel important such as structuring information, highlighting and Navigation. Some important points that concerns in this research are the ability of effectiveness from the two existing designs to inform and explain further about whether a design factor if the most dominant and most influential for the user in obtaining information This research is aimed to analyze the extent which website design can influence the user in tracking information. The results of research revealed that website with the contemporary design was more effective in providing information rather than the classic website. In addition to These results of the research also explains that from the two different designs, the navigation factor is the most dominant factor in the effectiveness of the absorption of the desired informat
